Waterproofing the exterior substrate of this large Manhattan hotel, which had difficult penetrations — particularly around the large round recessed windows at varying degrees of depth created by an existing sloping wall.

Additional complications included Henry Air-Bloc blistering when installed at recommended thickness on new sheathing, moisture concerns during roofing installation over exposed concrete, multiple penetration types in confined spaces, and placing pavers and ballast on rooftops with limited access and movement room.

The team employed a pie-cut segmentation of Blueskin around the curved window areas, sealed with Henry HE-925 sealant. A cured Air-Bloc 21 layer was added before installing PC88 and Foam Glass to resolve compatibility issues.

Damaged waterproofing received careful inspection and reapplication. Blistering was mitigated through controlled application thickness of dense glass. Concrete-deck drying used a temporary roofing before permanent installation. Precision cutting and attention to detail guided paver placement around the complex penetrations.

Waterproofing the exterior substrate behind the metal panels and the stucco system with Henry Blueskin and Air-Bloc 21 (95,000 SF), installing the Sto Hard Coat stucco system over cement board, and installing roofing using Henry 790-11 hot-applied asphalt (24,000 SF) across a series of three buildings with some new additions, compensating for existing conditions.
