Commercial Masonry Services

Full-Scope Masonry for Every Commercial Property Type

New construction, repair, restoration — we handle the full lifecycle of commercial masonry across New Jersey. From CMU back-up walls and brick veneer on new buildings to lintel replacements and tuckpointing on 100-year-old façades, our union-trained crews work to the spec your architect, owner, or property manager requires.

Brick veneer installation

Brick Veneer Construction

Anchored brick veneer over CMU or steel-stud back-up walls — the standard wall assembly for mid-rise commercial in NJ. We install per BIA and TMS standards with cavity drainage, weeps, flashing, and through-wall barriers properly detailed at every floor line and opening.

CMU block walls

CMU Block Construction

Reinforced concrete block for load-bearing walls, fire walls, demising walls, and back-up structure. We work from architect details and structural drawings, place vertical and horizontal rebar to schedule, and grout cores in continuous lifts that pass any structural inspection.

Tuckpointing and mortar restoration

Tuckpointing & Mortar Restoration

Failing mortar joints let water into the wall and accelerate every other deterioration mechanism. We grind out and re-point with mortar matched to the original — both color and compressive strength — so the work doesn't accelerate damage to historic brick the way modern Type S mortars often do.

Lintel replacement

Lintel & Shelf Angle Replacement

Steel lintels above windows and doors corrode and expand, lifting and cracking the masonry above. We needle-shore the wall, cut out the failed steel, install new galvanized or stainless lintels, and re-lay the brick — all without disturbing tenant operations below.

Stone veneer commercial

Commercial Stone Veneer

Adhered and anchored stone veneer for retail facades, office entries, and multi-family amenity spaces. We install both natural and manufactured stone over properly detailed substrates — with the weep screeds, flashings, and expansion joints that prevent the freeze-thaw failures common in poorly installed systems.

Structural masonry repair

Structural Masonry Repair

Bowing walls, cracked piers, displaced veneers, failed parapet caps — when a structural engineer's report calls for masonry intervention, we execute. We work from sealed drawings, document concealed conditions, and provide as-built records every property manager keeps on file.

Commercial Masonry Has No Margin for Approximation

On a residential job, a missed flashing detail leaks. On a commercial wall, the same detail multiplies across thousands of square feet — into water-damaged drywall, displaced tenants, and litigation. Commercial masonry is a discipline of details: through-wall flashings at every floor line, weeps at every cavity, expansion joints calculated to span thermal movement, anchors specified to wind load. Cutting corners doesn't show up at completion. It shows up at year five.

Common Questions

Commercial Masonry FAQs

What types of commercial masonry projects do you handle?

Brick veneer construction, CMU (concrete block) load-bearing walls, anchored stone veneer, tuckpointing and mortar restoration, lintel and shelf-angle replacement, parapet and cornice rebuilds, and engineered structural masonry repair from sealed drawings. We work on schools, healthcare, retail centers, multi-family, office buildings, and institutional projects.

Do you handle historic mortar matching for older NJ buildings?

Yes. Prewar brick was laid with soft lime-based mortars; using modern Type S or Type N mortar on these buildings actually accelerates brick damage. We match historic mortar by color and compressive strength using lime-based formulations specified for the era and brick type — preserving the brick instead of cracking it.

Can you provide bonding and insurance for commercial masonry projects?

Yes. We carry full bonding capacity for projects of any size, current Certificates of Insurance with additional-insured endorsements available on request, and prevailing-wage payroll capability for public-sector and union projects. All compliance documentation is handled in-house.

How do you handle work on occupied commercial buildings?

We sequence work to minimize tenant impact: phased crew deployment, off-hours scheduling for high-noise activities, protected pedestrian access during scaffolding installation, and weekly tenant communication. Property managers receive a written work plan before mobilization and weekly progress reports throughout.

What submittal documentation do architects and GCs receive?

Mortar samples and color match panels, brick mock-ups for owner approval, shop drawings for CMU layouts and reinforcement schedules, manufacturer product data, daily QC logs during construction, and final close-out submittals at substantial completion. Format matches the project specs.
